Greetings and Welcome! My name is Jenn DePaola (Dee-pay-oh-la) and I’m a digital artist. I grew up in Southwestern Virginia, which is also where I currently reside with my husband, Paul, and our two kitties, Rex and Cody. And yes… they are named after Clones in Star Wars. 😉
As for me, I’m a self-proclaimed “Geek Girl,” and proud of it! Fantasy and Science Fiction have always played a large role in my life, especially growing up. Some of my favorite movies as a child were Star Wars (Original Trilogy), Neverending Story, Labyrinth, Legend, and just about anything else along those lines. It fascinated me, and captivated my imagination. And once the wheels were turning, there was no going back! 🙂
Since I was a creative child, it was only natural that my art classes were my favorites during my school years. In the mid 90’s, I was introduced to the world of digital art, and I absolutely fell in love with it! There was so much variety, and so many unlimited possibilities that I had never even comprehended before. I was hooked instantly. And that’s where the next leg of my artistic studies began.
I am what some would consider a “self taught” artist. I learned to draw and paint through observation and trial and error. And of course practice. Lots and lots of practice. I am inspired by many other artists, both traditional and digital, new and old. And that inspiration has continually fueled my passion for creating new art. It has also helped and pushed me to learn more, and has allowed my style to evolve over time as I became more adept with my preferred mediums.
In addition to working on private commissions, I have worked with Topps Trading Cards on a few of the licensed Star Wars sketch card Sets, and their first Mars Attacks! sketch card set. I’ve also done work for Viceroy Card Company, and Asylum Studios.
I specialize in portraiture and pinups mostly, but have been moving into book covers and other story-based creations for private collectors. Although from time to time, I do take on assignments that are a bit more of a challenge to ‘stretch my artistic legs’ – so-to-speak. So if there is anything you would like to have commissioned, please feel free to contact me and we can discuss it further to see if I’m the right artist for you! Thanks so much!
